Jacob Mercer ET Algorithm

Instructions:
1. Choose and unsed grid dot.
2. Choose one of the four pens, each of which has a different weight.
3. Using a straight edge neatly draw 10-20 lines of varying length, which pass through the dot, to create a radiating "star" pattern with the dot at the center. The minimum length of a line is 2 inches and there is no maximum.
4. Repeat these steps on a total of three grid points. a new pen may be used on each grid dot if desired. THE RED PEN MAY ONLY BE USED ONCE BY EACH PERSON.

There were several limitations to my project that I did not for-see. After talking to some of the participants they said that they did not have enough time to complete the entire set of instructions. Furthermore many people did not draw lines that were long enough, or they did not draw enough lines through each point. Finally it did not seem like some people thought about the overall composition of the piece. If people had more time to think about composition and complete the instructions the piece may have come out a little better.

If I were to do this again I would like to give people more time, have them draw more shapes, and also find a way to make the size variation more pronounced. That being said I tried to keep it simple for this version due to the time constraints, and all things considered it came out similar to what I was hoping for.
