Instructions:
Ø Each person MAY NOT overlap/intersect their own lines (but CAN overlap over peoples line)
Ø Pick a favorite color and use it for the entire exercise
Ø Read all directions before marking the page
o ALL lines should be either vertical and/or horizontal (parallel to the edges of the paper) with the canvass in the landscape orientation
o ALL drawn lines should be between 1” - 4” in length.
o Alternate each line from the previously drawn line from the vertical to horizontal directions
o Each line should be generated from the previous line’s midpoint axis. They may not intersect and may not be further than 1” apart.
o Pick one or multiple nodes on the page and begin, working your way out from the centers of the chosen nodes

The results of the algorithm created unique patterns with a variety of colors, pattern-ways, and line thickness. I found the results were similar to what I imagined the outcome of being. Predicting overlapping patterns with a randomization of color and line type. The rules limited the possibility of the lines direction and created a basic pattern terminology to be interpreted by the artists, allowing freedom of creativity. By allowing the time limit to determine the termination point of the pattern, it creates a unique pattern length specific for each artistic colleague.
