Holt_Bench

  1. This project began to describe the possibilities that rhino offers. Its means on manipulation, duplication, and application can bring about forms, and even ideas that spring from form, that would otherwise be either impossible or would time much more time and effort than the end products worth.

  2. This project is an interesting interpretation of the wall and the floor peeling away to make a bench. What is particularly unique is that wall and the floor are both working to create the bench, rather than one or the other. Architecturally this design could be applied to other aspects of the building, such as the façade, to create pieces that peel away from one another and offer a different feeling from different view-points.

  3. 1. This gives me an idea in how materials could be used in an unique form and assembling.
    2. The unique thing is the continuity of the material in both way; horisontally and vertically.
    3. This project breaks, kind of, the boundary between walls and floors. It makes me , some how, break the limitation of the wall and floor.

  4. This project that you have created is extremely dynamic. Looking at the curvature of the structure it is easy to recognize the purpose of the unit and seems as though it would be quite comfortable, as it adjusts to the human form. The bench seems to grow out of the floor and walls, which is also a very appealing visual affect for this piece. After looking at this project it is clear that you posses a strong conformability with the program as well as the rendering options that are provided.

  5. I love the way that the materials mesh together to form the bench. You have both material from the wall and the floor combining together as a single unit, which is a very nice feature. It is unique in the way the white members do not stay a single thickness, they begin to taper off as they reach the floor and ceiling. The one thing I could see being a problem is the comfort of someone sitting on the bench, since they are not sitting on a flat surface they would actually be sitting on pipes. This project informed me about what makes a good bench, not only is it the aesthetic quality of looking at the bench as passing by but it must also relate to the comfort of sitting on the bench itself.

  6. Visually, this rendering is beautiful and the concept is right on. The way the wall turns into structural tubing is genius. However, it looks like the most uncomfortable bench you'll ever sit on.

  7. This project has a lot going for it. It definitely stands out from the rest. I can appreciate how the two materials compliment each other. To me it looks like an art installation and not really a bench. Looks great probably not so great to actually sit on.
