Design Computing and Digital Fabrication Wentworth Institute of Technology Department of Architecture Spring 2010
This course will focus on designing and constructing algorithms, in both analogue and digital forms, to explore potential design solutions. Students will learn to use scripting as a tool: for solving specific problems, and for generating un/predictable results. Laser cutting and 3d printing will be the primary prototyping tools used for translating digital design information into physical models. Theoretical and pragmatic approaches will be interwoven throughout the course. Rhino will serve as the primary platform for free-form modeling, parametric modeling, scripting, and preparing fabrication geometry.
